Farther than the moon
In a former royal stable in Stupinigi, near Turin, a fifteen-year-old girl, the daughter of a Fiat worker, no longer goes to school and helps her mother sell vegetables at the market. One day, however, a meeting with a book seller changes her life, because the girl comes across the ancient poems of Provençal troubadours by chance and sets her mind on becoming one of them. Fascinated by those readings, she runs away from home: not to do politics like everyone else around her, but to... seek ‘love from afar’. The novel, between the realistic and the paradoxical, recounts the adventures of this girl, so distant from the history that runs alongside her, in tones that are a little bit hilarious and a little bit sorrowful: for love of the celebrated remoteness, she will make mistakes, sometimes small, sometimes more serious, she will slip into stories that are sometimes mediocre, sometimes sublime, until, on the threshold of maturity, she will meet the dream that - perhaps - she did not even know she had.
