Trione was unanimously elected during the first meeting of the new board of directors on Thursday, June 4. The vice president will be Maria Adele Porro (president of the Salone del Mobile), and Carla Morogallo was confirmed as general director.

“The goal is to be both serious and visionary. To be a bit like lightning rods: lightning rods are firmly anchored to the ground, yet at the same time they look up to the sky,” Trione stated after his election: “I’d like to be a bit like a lightning rod—that is, to have a deep understanding of the Triennale’s tradition and fundamental history as a symbol of excellence for the city and the country, while at the same time recognizing it as a place at the center of an international system. I believe the Triennale is also in need of a visionary impetus.”
